Don Rodrigo, 71
“I couldn’t leave my house for two years. Now I go to church every Sunday. My family cried when the chair arrived.”
We bring mobility, dignity, and hope to vulnerable families across 12 rural Costa Rican communities through wheelchairs, women's empowerment, food security, and community love.
Asociación Moviendo Esperanzas is a Costa Rican nonprofit that believes every person deserves the chance to move freely, eat well, and live with dignity. Since our founding, we've served vulnerable families across rural communities through four integrated programs.
We work hand-in-hand with local leaders, volunteers, and international donors to create lasting change — one wheelchair, one garden, one family at a time.

Our cornerstone program sources, refurbishes, and delivers wheelchairs to people in rural Costa Rica who cannot afford them. Each delivery includes a custom fitting, family training, and ongoing support.
Skills training, mentorship, and community support for women in vulnerable situations. We help build self-confidence, economic independence, and sisterhood across rural communities.
